CiDiSi = Clean it, Debug it, Shape it. That's how messy data turns into insight.

Hi, I'm Iris! Clean it, Debug it, Shape it… I'm the insight at the end. Go on, poke me.

Step zero

What's eating your week?

Pick the one that sounds most like you. I'll point you to the right guide.

Honestly? I'm not sure Tell me what's annoying you and I'll suggest a fix. Ask me β†’
Who I help

"Okay, but how would my business use you?"

Pick yours. Here's what Clean it, Debug it, Shape it looks like for you.

Run FedEx Ground or Amazon delivery routes? You're juggling settlement statements, payroll, fuel cards and scanner reports, and none of them talk to each other.

  • Clean it

Combine settlements, payroll and fuel-card exports into one file you can trust.

  • Debug it

Catch duplicate fuel charges, missed stops and pay mistakes before they cost you.

  • Shape it

A dashboard with cost per stop and profit per route, plus driver scorecards.

  • Automate it

Weekly payroll and driver reports built with one click instead of one evening.

Run routes? Tell me about your operation β†’

Candidates in one system, timesheets in another, invoices in a third. Margins get lost in the gaps.

  • Clean it

One clean list of clients, placements and workers, with no duplicates.

  • Debug it

Flag timesheets where the bill rate and the pay rate don't add up.

  • Shape it

Fill rate, time-to-fill and margin per client on one screen.

  • Automate it

Weekly invoices generated straight from approved timesheets.

Run a staffing agency? Let's talk β†’

HVAC, landscaping, construction, cleaning crews. You know which jobs felt profitable. Do you know which ones actually were?

  • Clean it

Jobs, estimates, materials and invoices organized in one place.

  • Debug it

Find unbilled work and jobs that quietly went over budget.

  • Shape it

Profit per job, estimate close rate and your busiest months.

  • Automate it

A job-costing sheet that fills itself in as receipts come in.

Run crews or jobs? Tell me how you track them β†’

Your POS has the data. It just doesn't tell you what to reorder, what to cut or when to staff up.

  • Clean it

POS exports and inventory sheets merged and tidied up.

  • Debug it

Spot mis-priced items, missing stock and odd refunds.

  • Shape it

Best sellers, slow days and margin per item at a glance.

  • Automate it

A weekly sales recap that lands in your inbox on its own.

Own a shop or restaurant? Let's look at your numbers β†’

Property managers, nonprofits, salons, offices, side hustles. If your business runs on spreadsheets, the same three steps apply.

  • Clean it

Merge the spreadsheets everyone keeps their own copy of into one.

  • Debug it

Find the formulas, totals and numbers that don't add up.

  • Shape it

One dashboard for the numbers you check every week.

  • Automate it

Turn the report you rebuild by hand into one click.

Tell me what your business runs on β†’

    DIY guides

Want to do it yourself? Here's the map.

These are the real steps, without the 40-page tutorial. Tick them off as you go. If it starts looking like a weekend project, that's normal, and that's what I'm for.

    1. 1

      Download Power BI Desktop

It's free from the Microsoft Store. This is where you build; the online version is mostly for sharing.

    2. 2

Sign in with a work account

You need one to publish and share.

Heads up: a personal Gmail or Outlook address won't work here.

    3. 3

      Connect your data source

Get Data β†’ pick Excel, CSV, SharePoint or a database, then choose the tables you need.

    4. 4

      Clean it in Power Query

Fix data types, remove blank rows, merge tables. This is usually where most of the time goes.

    5. 5

Model it and write your measures

Link your tables, add a date table, and write DAX measures like Total Sales or Month-over-Month.

Heads up: DAX looks like Excel formulas. It doesn't behave like them.

    6. 6

      Build the visuals

KPI cards on top, trends in the middle, details below. One question per page.

    7. 7

      Publish and schedule refresh

Publish to the Power BI Service and set it to refresh on its own. Local files may need a data gateway, and sharing usually needs Pro licenses.

Don't want to do this yourself?

I'll do it for you, starting at $350.

    Have me build it
    1. 1

Write down every step you repeat

Every click, filter, copy and paste. If you can't write it down, a macro can't do it.

    2. 2

      Turn on the Developer tab

File β†’ Options β†’ Customize Ribbon β†’ check Developer.

    3. 3

      Record a macro

Hit Record Macro, do the task once, hit Stop. Excel writes the VBA code for you.

    4. 4

      Clean up the recorded code

Open the editor (Alt + F11). Recorded code hard-codes every cell, so swap those for loops, variables and "find the last row" logic.

Heads up: this step is where recorded macros usually fall apart.

    5. 5

      Handle the weird cases

Empty files, an extra column, a renamed sheet. Add error handling so it fails politely instead of wrecking your data.

    6. 6

Save as .xlsm and add a button

Save it as a macro-enabled workbook and assign the macro to a button.

Heads up: Windows blocks macros in files downloaded or emailed, so you may need to unblock the file first.

    7. 7

Test it on a copy, then test it again

Run it on last week's file and this week's. Compare the results by hand once.

Don't want to do this yourself?

I'll do it for you, starting at $150.

    Have me automate it
    1. 1

Make a copy. Never clean the original.

Seriously. Name it something you'll recognize.

    2. 2

      Load it into Power Query

Data β†’ From Table/Range. Every fix you make is recorded, so you can replay it next month.

    3. 3

      Fix the basics

Trim spaces, fix capitalization, set the right types for dates and numbers.

    4. 4

      Standardize the values

"NY", "N.Y." and "new york" are one thing. Use a lookup table to map them all to one name.

    5. 5

      Remove duplicates, carefully

Decide what counts as a duplicate first. Same customer and same date? Same invoice number?

Heads up: removing the wrong "duplicates" quietly deletes real sales.

    6. 6

Reshape it: one row per record

Split combined columns and unpivot month-by-month layouts so every row is one thing.

    7. 7

Load it and hit Refresh next time

Close & Load. Next month, drop in the new file and refresh.

Don't want to do this yourself?

I'll do it for you, starting at $100.
